Apparently, one skill you develop as a new parent is figuring out exactly the right way to jiggle, bounce, rock and sway your baby into a place of peace and, eventually, sleep.
Aida was relatively straight-forward at first. Put her upright on your shoulder, sit down in a rocker and rock. Done. Out.
But as she's gotten bigger and more aware of her surroundings, my moves have gotten more involved. Now, I stand and jiggle her until she relaxes. Then, I sit in the rocker and take her the rest of the way.
Last week, I discovered a sure-fire standing maneuver she seems to love.
I call it the Axl.
You know it. You lead with your hips.
